Sensui's Spirit Sphere: If what I believe is correct to making sure these rulings are right, I will post a new Gateway format deck list for everyone.
Pay 1 Spirit: If you have the Sensui Team Bonus and your Gateway is in the Winner’s Circle, take a card from the bottom of your Discard Pile and put it under Gateway for each character you have in play that is both a hero and a villain. You may search your Deck for Gateway and put into your hand.
1. Characters on the table are considered in play for all base purposes, I just wanted to make sure that any hero/villain characters that are in the winners circle face up/down still count towards this effect. I.e. I still am able to put a minimum of 4 cards under gateway for just the starting line-up even if 2 are defeated.
Gateway:
When you play this card put it in the Winner’s Circle. At the end of your Draw Step, reveal your hand to your opponent and put an event from your hand under this card. Draw: If there are 35 cards under this card, you win the game.
2. This card immediately goes into the winners circle when it resolves, minus if it gets Halted!. But up until the gateway expansion were there any cards that can remove it from the winners circle? Because I honestly don't think multiples are needed in any deck if that is the case.

New Winner’s Circle Rules: Some cards (like Gateway, and Purgatory) are put directly into the Winner’s Circle. Even though some of these cards create effects while in the Winner’s Circle, they are not actually “in play.” Cards put in the Winner’s Circle are put there face-up. Characters in the Winner’s Circle are not actually “in play” but their Team Symbols still count for qualifying for your Team Bonuses.
From the Exile rule book.
Correct on #2, but you want to pull it asap, so running 2-3 is still recommended.
